The Helpline is the only statewide, public resource for finding substance use and problem gambling treatment and recovery services, in Illinois. The Illinois Helpline refers to hundreds of treatment and recovery providers across Illinois, and we don’t operate any treatment programs. The Illinois Helpline services are always free and confidential. Our goal is to guide you to the treatment options that are best for you.

Anyone can use the Illinois Helpline, whether you’re struggling with a substance use or problem gambling or care about someone who is. We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Helpline Specialists can serve you in your language. We have Spanish-speaking staff, and interpreter services are available in any language.

The Illinois Helpline is operated by Health Resources in Action, Inc. (HRiA), a non-profit, public health organization with expertise in developing, implementing, and evaluating public health solutions for clients who share a vision of healthier communities. HRiA has 20 years’ experience in operating Helplines for those with substance use disorders, their loved ones, and service providers/professionals.
