Healing Centered Engagement: Considerations for Clinical Work

September 6, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Target Audience:  Counselors and Clinical Supervisors

Limited spots available; only one participant per corporation.

This workshop will focus on the shift from the term “trauma-informed care” as it does not encompass the totality of one’s experience and focused only on harm, injury, and trauma. Current formulations of trauma-informed care presume that the trauma is an individual experience, rather than a collective one.

Based on the article from Shawn Ginwright Ph.D. entitled “The Future of Healing: Shifting From Trauma-Informed Care to Healing Centered Engagement”, this workshop will provide tools for an approach that allows practitioners to approach trauma with a fresh lens that promotes a holistic and cultural view of healing from traumatic experiences and environments. This approach is called Healing Centered Engagement.

-Understand key differences between a healing-centered & trauma-informed approach to care.

-Identify 3 ways to address root causes of trauma in communities

-3 ways to improve strategies and outcomes with clients using HCE

This training is interactive; please have a microphone and webcam.
