The purpose of the Wound Care & Xylazine for Illinois Primary Care Providers webinar is to increase
knowledge among primary care providers in the assessment and treatment of wounds as related to intravenous
drug and Xylazine use. This 1-hour webinar session will be led by Rush SUD-COE Subject Matter Expert and
Mentor, Michael Huyck. This training opportunity is funded by the Illinois Substance Use Prevention and
Recovery (SUPR) to increase access to Medication Assisted Recovery (MAR) in Illinois.
Learning Objectives. By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Explain opioid use disorder as a chronic illness.
2. Increase level of comfort in the treatment and assessment of wound care as it relates to intravenous drug and Xylazine
use.
3. Incorporate harm reduction philosophies and principles in the treatment of opioid use disorder.

Who should attend? Illinois primary care providers (i.e., Physician, Advance Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant),
nurses (RN), and psychologists.
