SUMMARY:Series 5- Medication Assisted Recovery (MAR): Opioid Treatment Medication Essentials
DESCRIPTION:The Southern Illinois University School of Medicine offers both the Medication Assisted Recovery ECHO and the Co-Occurring Disorder ECHO. This ECHO\, coordinated by the Department of Psychiatry at SIU School of Medicine\, aims to create a network of trained providers with DATA-2000 waivers who will improve access and care for patients with opioid addiction. The Opioid ECHO will also train clinicians who have the DATA-2000 waiver but who are not yet prescribing. Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a hub and spoke educational model that connects specialists in academic medical centers (“hubs”) to primary care clinicians in rural and underserved communities (“spokes”) via videoconferencing. The ECHO sessions involve a case-based learning approach that contains 15-minute didactic lessons and patient case presentations by clinicians at participating spoke sites. \n\n1 Day Event \nApproved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit \nMust Register  – do not have have to attend full series

SUMMARY:2021 Illinois Evidence-Based Practices Virtual Conference Series: Intro to Individual Placement and Support (IPS)
DESCRIPTION:The goal of this presentation is to educate stakeholders on the evidence-based practice model of Supported Employment called Individual Placement and Support [IPS]\, and to promote IPS as a core mental health service within managed care. We will also share “enhancements” that have been added to the IPS model in Illinois that have improved local service delivery and integration of the model in light of COVID-19. IPS is proven through research to be the most effective approach to helping individuals with serious mental illnesses to return to the workforce; with the goal being the attainment and maintenance of a competitive\, preference-based job within the community. We believe that work should be a standard of health care in the strengthening of a comprehensive mental health system in Illinois\, and that IPS should be the approach to use to assist persons impacted by serious mental illnesses to get into the workforce. \n\n1 Day Event \nCEUs are available

SUMMARY:2021 Illinois Evidence-Based Practices Virtual Conference Series: Community Supervision of Persons with Complex Diagnosis to Support Outcomes
DESCRIPTION:Working to make people successful within their own community requires an astute eye for barriers and strengths. People we serve are much more than what we see in the office or court setting. Outreach into the community and homes makes a significant difference in stability and outcomes. Service providers\, probation officers\, etc. can see problems that a consumer might not recognize as a problem\, may lack the tools to address\, or may be reluctant to discuss. By ongoing assessment driven interventions and support in the community\, people with complex co-morbid disorders can do much better. This presentation will discuss some of those skills via Risk\, Needs and Responsivity principles. \n\n1 Day Event \nCEUs are available

SUMMARY:Medications in Treatment
DESCRIPTION:One of the challenges of Medications in Treatment (MAT) is that clients and counselors often focus on the medication and lose the balance of full recovery. This M.D. level facilitated workshop will focus on how to use the evidence-based practices of motivational interviewing cognitive behavioral therapy\, and the transtheoretical model of behavior change to broaden substance use disorder treatment beyond the “bio” (as in biopsychosocial) administration of the medication. It will help providers collaborate with clients to individualize substance use treatment and develop person-centered services that hold clients accountable and attract them to recovery. Training spots are limited but registration will remain open until all slots are full. Please only have one participant per corporation due to limited spots. \n\n1 Day Event \nCEUs will be offered
