Illinois launches The Illinois Latino COVID-19 Initiative

In response to the disproportionate number of COVID-19 cases and related deaths in the Latino community, Illinois recently launched the Illinois Latino COVID-19 Initiative. The initiative consists of a consortium of over 30 Latino elected and appointed officials, together with health professionals, and representatives of community-based organizations and aims to present one united voice in stopping the growth of COVID-19 in Latino communities while addressing related public health issues and the devastating economic impact of COVID-19. The consortium has developed 10 goals that include work across and with community partners to increase testing sites, provide temporary housing to Latino workers who have tested positive, and provide professional translation and updated bilingual COVID-19 information to communities.
